Embratur Strengthens International Cooperation to Boost Sustainable Tourism in Brazil

The Brazilian Agency for International Tourism Promotion (Embratur) is intensifying its efforts to consolidate Brazil's position in the global tourism market through a new series of international cooperation agreements. The strategy focuses on diversifying the country's tourism portfolio beyond traditional coastal destinations, highlighting the ecological and cultural richness of the Amazon, the Pantanal, and the Cerrado regions. By aligning with global sustainability standards, Embratur aims to attract a higher volume of high-spending travelers who prioritize environmental responsibility.

In collaboration with international airlines and global travel agencies, the agency is implementing data-driven marketing campaigns to identify emerging markets in Europe and North America. These initiatives are designed to improve air connectivity and simplify the travel experience for international visitors. President of Embratur, Marcelo Freixo, has recently emphasized that the recovery of Brazil's image abroad is directly linked to the country's commitment to climate goals and the protection of indigenous territories.

Furthermore, Embratur is investing in digital transformation to provide better support for the domestic tourism trade. New platforms are being developed to facilitate B2B connections between Brazilian operators and foreign investors. The agency is also working closely with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Itamaraty) to streamline visa processes and enhance the safety perception of major Brazilian cities.

Looking ahead to the next semester, a series of promotional events are scheduled in key cities such as London, New York, and Lisbon. These roadshows will feature Brazilian culinary demonstrations, musical performances, and workshops for travel agents. The goal is to reach pre-pandemic levels of international arrivals while ensuring that the economic benefits of tourism reach local communities across all five regions of Brazil.
